Awards and Honors from November 2020

Elizabeth Phelps wins Miller Prize in Cognitive Neuroscience.

MCO graduate program alum Jenelle Wallace was profiled by the Harvard Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology.

Undergraduate neuroscience concentrator Aba Sam was profiled by the Harvard Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology.

Xiqun Chen has received a $6M Neuro-immune Interactions award from the ASAP Collaborative Research Network, along with co-PI Michael Schwarzschild and collaborators at other institutions.

Two teams of Harvard neuroscientists and their colleagues received awards in the inaugural round of Healthy Longevity Catalyst Awards:

  • Alessandro Biffi, with Michael Morley, and Elena Biffi of the New England College of Optometry.
  • Shigemi Ishikawa-Nagai, with John Da Silva, Alberta Galaburda, and Masazumi Nagai.

HMS postdocs Yvette Fisher and Fenna Krienen, along with former HMS postdoc Lucas Cheadle (now at CSHL) and three others, named 2020 Allen Institute Next Generation Leaders.

Emery Brown receives the 2020 Swartz Prize for Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience from the Society for Neuroscience (SFN).

Ghazaleh Sadri-Vakili of MGH, together with Courtney Miller of Scripps Research Institute, wins the Louise Hanson Marshall Special Recognition Award, also presented by SFN, for significantly promoting the professional development of women in neuroscience.

John Kempen receives the 2020 Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Karl Koehler and Jiyoon Lee receive an honorable mention in the 2020 Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition.
