Awards and Honors from January 2026

Nada Amin, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) and Debora Marks, Professor of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, received 2026 Kempner Institute Accelerator Awards, via a new pilot grant program for Harvard faculty researching intelligence. Marks will work with co-applicant Noor Youssef, who is Scientific Lead of Predictive Modeling in the Marks lab.

Harvard College neuroscience concentrators Nicole Lu, Alex Chou, and William Leung have been nominated for membership in Phi Beta Kappa (PBK).

Anil Chekuri, HMS instructor in ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, received the Bert M. Glaser, MD Award for Innovative Retina Research.

Leo Kim, HMS associate professor of ophthalmology at Mass Eye and Ear, received the Kreissig Award for Excellence in Retinal Surgery.

Nazlee Zebardast, HMS associate professor of ophthalmology at Mass Eye and Ear, has been awarded the Carl Camras Translational Research Award.

William Carlezon, HMS professor of psychiatry at McLean Hospital was recognized by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) for his study “Modified LSD Molecule Retains Therapeutic Effects While Limiting Hallucinations,” published in PNAS.

Christian Webb, HMS associate professor of psychology at McLean was recognized by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) for two studies: “AI and Smartphone Sensors Successfully Track Symptoms in Adolescents with Depression,” published in Digital Psychiatry and Neuroscience; and “Smartphone Sensors + ChatGPT Successfully Tracked & Predicted Symptoms in Adolescents with Anhedonia,” published in NPP — Digital Psychiatry and Neuroscience.
