Awards and Honors from August 2020

Wade Harper, head of the Department of Cell Biology; Clotilde Lagier-Tourenne, HMS associate professor of neurology at Mass General; and Sichen Shao, assistant professor in cell biology at HMS are among the scientists on 30 teams to receive a Chan Zuckerberg Initiative 2020 Collaborative Pairs Pilot Project Award.

Bruce Bean, the Robert Winthrop Professor of Neurobiology, received the 2020 Landis Award for Outstanding Mentorship from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

Kinga Bujakowska, HMS assistant professor of ophthalmology at Mass. Eye and Ear, received the 2020 Research to Prevent Blindness International Research Collaborators Award.

Rohan Bir Singh, HMS research fellow in ophthalmology at Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass. Eye and Ear, received a 2020 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Science Communication Training Fellowship.

Joan Miller, the David Glendenning Cogan Professor of Opthalmology at HMS and chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Mass. Eye and Ear, received an Honor Award for her time and contributions to the scientific programs of the American Society of Retina Specialists’ Annual Meeting.

Amanda Whipple, Assistant Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, has been chosen by the Rita Allen Foundation as one of five Rita Allen Scholars in the Class of 2020 and the sole recipient of the 2020 Milton E. Cassel Scholarship.

Nghia Nguyen (Lab of Mark Andermann, BIDMC) among three HMS graduate students and their advisers selected for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s 2020 Gilliam Fellowships for Advanced Study.

Pragya Goel (Lab of Pascal Kaeser, HMS) and Rachel Segal Greenberg (Lab of Stephen Liberles, HMS) among fifteen postdoctoral scientists named 2020 Damon Runyon Fellows.
