Dr. Jack Smiley and Drs. Alkis Hadjiosif, David Lin, and Priya Srikanth will join us for a discussion of stroke recovery spanning basic science, clinical research, and the personal experience of post-stroke recovery. Dr. Lin will discuss with Mr. Smiley his life-changing experience having a stroke while playing college hockey and his journey of recovery from being paralyzed in the NeuroICU to skating on the ice again. Dr. Srikanth will review what we know – and don’t know – about the basic neurobiology underlying post-stroke recovery and opportunities for future research. Finally, Dr. Hadjiosif will share insights from clinical research into the mechanisms of motor control during recovery after stroke. We look forward to an engaging conversation about how we can advance patient care with ongoing multidisciplinary research.

This series features clinicians and patients discussing the lived experience of people with neurological and psychiatric disorders. We hope to spark conversations on the human impact of basic science research & inspire new patient-centered research ideas.
