Exercise and Brain Health 101

Dr. Wrann will provide an overview of our current understanding of how exercise improves brain health, emphasizing its neuroprotective effects for Alzheimer’s disease. Her talk will cover clinical studies in humans and mechanistic studies in mice –  discussing functional data, cellular correlates, and molecular mediators of exercise benefits in the brain. Lastly, Dr. Wrann will present exciting new research from her laboratory on the exercise hormone irisin as a crucial regulator of cognitive benefits in exercise and a possible drug target for Alzheimer’s disease.
