Imprinted Genes in Neuroscience 101

We have two DNA copies of every gene, one inherited from our mom and one from our dad. In this seminar, we will examine ‘imprinted’ genes in which the two parental copies are differentially expressed in offspring. After reviewing the basics of genomic imprinting, we will hear about current work investigating imprinted genes in the brain and applications toward neurodevelopmental disorders like Angelman syndrome.
