Lipid Metabolism in the Brain
The brain has exceptionally high metabolic demands, requiring a continuous and tightly regulated supply of lipids. Disrupted lipid metabolism is associated with neurological disorders and neurodegeneration, yet how different brain cell types use and regulate lipids remains largely unknown. Our lab investigates how lipid regulation supports brain function, from molecular mechanisms to animal behavior, using interdisciplinary approaches in primary cell culture and mouse model systems. Through this work, we aim to uncover fundamental mechanisms of brain metabolism and provide new insights into neurological disease.
