Summer Smentek
(she/her)
Undergraduate Researcher / Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology

I am a student at Harvard College concentrating in Integrative Biology with a secondary in Mind Brain Behavior, and an undergraduate researcher in the Davies Lab. Previously, I worked in the Hoekstra Lab, where I investigated the likely evolutionary history of complex burrowing behavior in deer mice (genus Peromyscus) by characterizing the behavior of nine strains of mice from different habitats across North America. I am fascinated by the world’s biodiversity and am focused on discovering ways to promote human-wildlife coexistence by studying the behavior of both animals and humans. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering, creating art, learning languages, horseback riding, and exploring the outdoors.
