(she/her/hers)
Postdoctoral Fellow / Lab of Susan Dymecki, Department of Genetics

I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. I received my BS in Neurobiology from Georgetown University where I worked on thalamic development. I continued studying neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University, completing my dissertation work in the lab of Dr. David Ginty. After graduate school, I joined Dr. Susan Dymecki’s lab to investigate serotonin producing neurons. My research integrates novel mouse genetic tools, cellular and molecular techniques, and physiological approaches to understand how serotonin neurons of the brainstem regulate somatosensory and autonomic behaviors such as respiration. Beyond my research work, I am also an organizing member of the Women in Neuroscience group, particularly in regards to events that support parents within our community.

Throughout my research career I have been cognizant of the importance of teaching the next generation of scientific thinkers, thus have sought mentoring and teaching opportunities, including a Neuro 101 Tutorial on the Science of Touch, as well as pedagogical knowledge to create effective teaching and learning environments for science education.
