Neuroscience of Mood and Aging
Our research is aimed at understanding the causes, course of illness and outcomes of mood disorders, such as bipolar disorder and depression. We use creative approaches to answer these questions, integrating methods from neuroimaging, genomics, stress and sex/gender medicine. Specific interests include developing biomarkers to predict treatment response and characterizing aging-related neurobiological mechanisms leading to different illness trajectories. Our ultimate goal is to inform the development of new treatment strategies to improve outcomes for individuals with mood disorders.
