Translational Neuroscience for Stroke, Trauma and Neurodegeneration
My work is focused on experimental and translational research in stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegeneration. Tools in my lab comprise a mix of molecular/cell biology, in vivo pharmacology, and in vivo imaging. Over the past 33 years, I have collaborated widely within and outside of MGH, to dissect mechanisms of injury and repair in the central nervous system (CNS), with a recent emphasis on vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and circadian mechanisms in the neurobiology of disease. Ongoing projects include investigations into: (i) vascular regulation of cell reprogramming; (ii) pericyte signaling in CNS injury; (iii) circadian mechanisms in stroke and vascular dementia; (iv) circadian effects in neuroimaging.
